As of November 29, 2020, all passengers entering and departing the Dominican Republic will be required to fill out and submit Traveler’s Health Affidavit, Customs Declaration and International Embarkation/Disembarkation forms.  You can save time by completing these forms electronically through the Electronic Ticket Portal.  

As of April 1, 2021, the use of digital forms will be mandatory.

Requirements for returning to the United States

Effective January 26, the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will require all air passengers entering the United States (including U.S. citizens and Legal Permanent Residents) to present a negative VIRAL COVID-19 test, taken within three calendar days of departure or proof of recovery from the virus within the last 90 days​. Airlines must confirm the negative test result or proof of recovery for all passengers two years of age and over prior to boarding. ​Airlines must deny boarding of passengers who do not provide documentation of a negative test or recovery


THERE ARE 2 TYPES OF ACCEPTABLE VIRAL TESTS: 


Antigen test (frequently referred to as a rapid test). It can be done in a clinic, doctor’s office, or hospital. Turnaround time for results is usually very quick and in some cases, results can be reported within 15 minutes.


PCR test. The Gold Standard and most accurate.  This test can be done in a clinic, hospital, home, or even in your car. Turnaround time is longer, generally in the 2-3 day range but sometimes in as little as 24 hours.


How to get tested for COVID


Option 1 - Have Blue Casas Concierge Service organize your testing:

2. We will need the following information for EVERYONE REQUESTING TO BE TESTED BEFORE ARRIVAL:

- Copy of your Passport or Identification.

- Email address

- Cell Phone Number

- Your departure information (Date, Time, Airline, Flight number)

- Any flu like symptoms you are experiencing*


3. Pay the total fee for the COVID tests before you and your group arrive in the Dominican Republic ( COVID tests aren’t covered by insurance). Cost: RD$5000 (approximately 86USD)


* Any foreigner experiencing flu-like symptoms may be quarantined in a government facility until receipt of a negative COVID-19 test.


Option 2 - Getting the COVID test by yourself

Our advice: To ensure a hassle-free vacation, we recommend you use our Concierge Service to organize your COVID Test. When scheduling a COVID test hold times can be long and some places may not have English-speaking staff.  

If you decide to get the test by yourself, make sure to call and book your test as soon as you arrive, in order to ensure you have the results in your departure. 

If you do feel sick should self-isolate call The Ministry of Health *462 for further instructions. They do have English speakers. 

Dominican Republic is providing free insurance to all visitors to the Dominincan Republic that has a minimum 3 day reservation in a hotel.  If you do have any emergency, even if you are not staying in a hotel, you can call this number Seguros Reservas Assistance Line +1 809 476 3232 so that a representative can determine the appropriate course of action on a case by case basis.

Because Covid-19 is a new pathogen requiring ongoing research, we are constantly reviewing recommendations and guidelines of the CDC, the WHO and the local health authorities in order to ensure the best service possible while guaranteeing the safety of our staff and customers.  In the interim we’ve taken the following ongoing measures:


- Effective immediately, we won't accept reservations with adjacent dates, which means we will always space out reservations to be a minimum of one day apart to allow for thorough cleaning and disinfecting between stays.  


- To ensure maximum safety, we will be using the best hospital grade disinfectant agents as well as electro-static disinfecting between every reservation.


- If you are arriving from a high-risk area, we ask that you take your temperature in the days prior to your trip. 


- DO NOT COME IF YOU FEEL SICK!!!!
